Your statement about those who knew they were but stayed in the "traditional" straight life, kinda hit hard...yes, I was a chicken and admit it...some of you as butches, must also respect that there are some of us that are "chickens" I am so very femme, I don't fight and that is a problem for me...We needed you strong butches to do some fighting for us, (isn't that part of the dynamic...it's part of mine and we've been together for almost 10 years) at that time and the ones that came before you...I am now 42 and a strongly out person and have been for 20 years...I didn't know what "was wrong with me" for all that time, in fact until I was married because I was so very sheltered. I just thought that I was the only one...talk about naive...So I thank you for getting your butt kicked, but I was getting mine kicked by parents, men and whatnot while I was trying to figure other things out like surviving. It wasn't until my nasty husband told me that he wanted to see 2 women do it that I realized that there actually was such a thing and he rented a video for me so I could see...I was 22 then and that marriage didn't last...I was out to everyone, lost friends, family etc...yes I had 3 children and I don't regret that and here's another thought, I had a really bad time with butches in VA (sailors, who wouldn't even look at me because I'm fat)I had some bad dealings with some butches that really didn't look past the outside(and I am a beautiful fat woman)...how shallow can they be...maybe it was better to be straight at least try to be and be noticed than be shunned by your own...think about that fact and I will now get off MY soapbox.
