TOTO
(Chihuahua)

Toto is our 'first born' who
is now 11 years old at the time this page was created. He was born in 1991, so you do the math for the year you're reading this. *S*. He was adopted by us when he was only
3 years old. Although he wasn't on this earth for long before
the adoption, he suffered with his original 'family'. They
were just interested in making money with him in the dog shows.
When he no longer brought money in they decided to sell him.
That's the thanks he got for being a loving, loyal little
guy.
So when Billie and I decided
to adopt, I searched the newspapers off and on. I came across
the listing for him and called the womyn of the house. I found
out he was 3 years old, housebroken and was used for dog shows
and breeding. We made a date for Billie and I to go see him.
When we pulled up to the house
there were kids running in the yard screaming, a very large
dog and a few smaller ones were barking. Without a doubt this
household seemed quite unruly - disfunctional. The womyn of the
house came out to the fence to greet us. She yelled at one of the
children to go find Toto. After a few minutes the child came back to
the front door reporting that he was nowhere to be found.
The womyn ran back into the house for the Great Toto Search.
When she returned to the fence she was carrying both Toto
and he's little daughter, who wasn't for sale.
I took one look at Toto and saw
the fright in his big eyes. He was shaking with fright. I
asked the womyn if I could hold him for a little bit and she
handed him over the fence to my wanting hands. The poor little
fella seemed to have swallowed a vibrator, he was shaking
so much. I felt so sorry for him. The womyn told us that he
loved to sleep in the bed with the children and when she isn't
able to find him, he was usually under the bed. Seeing how
unruly the children and animals were, I could just about imagine
what life was like for this sweet little timid guy and made
the decision to take him away from that loud, disfunctional
household.
I paid the womyn what was agreed
on and she signed over his papers. When we got into my van
to return home, Toto sat right on Billie's lap and didn't
stop shaking all the way home.
It didn't take long to figure
out the womyn must have been thinking of another animal when
she mentioned being house-trained. This was a huge disappointment
to us. He, still to this day, has his moments that irks the
hell outta both of us but training him is impossible, therefore
we put down 'training' pads for him.
He's a sweet loving boy and
sometimes shows his happiness with the wagging of his tail and a
smile on his face. We receive lots of love from him and although
he's still very timid, he has opened up to us and our quiet
household. The loudest noise he ever hears now is the thunder
when a storm comes around.
He doesn't play with toys and
hardly ever runs around. He merely loves to sit with us on
the chair while we watch TV but sometimes his little brother,
Rocky(Monster), or sister, Ms Beasley, finds him in a 'playful'
mood at which time he chases them.
He has become very vocal when
he knows food is around or when he hears the car keys jingling.
He can sure demand what he wants then. *S*
He
used to like taking rides on the cycle because he knew that
usually meant we were going to the park so he could visit
with the wild ducks and smell out the scent of other animals
who have been there. As soon as the trike is finished he and
his little bro will be going with us at the same time. That
will be fun!! We can all go on a little picnic then and the
'boyZ' will be able to be together.
UPDATE: The trike is on the road now and both "boyZ" ride with us. We went out and bought both of them their very own "Motorcycle Ridin' Goggles". See it HERE!!!
Toto is my 'little buddy' and
is a great foot warmer do to the fact that he loves sleeping
under the covers. Sometimes he honors me by laying right next
to my legs which allows me to pet him while he fills the room
with noise from his snoring. You would NOT believe how loud
this little guy can snore!! Oh, and ya never place the covers
over your head when he's sleeping under them ........ when
he passes gas, it'll bring tears to your eyes!!

ROCKY(Monster)
(Chihuahua)

Oh mercy, this is our 'monster', born on New
Years Day 2000! Our little millennium dog. He has chosen Billie
to be his #1 mommy just as Toto has chosen me to be HIS #1
but they both provide equal attention to both of us. Mr Rocky(Monster)
was adopted when he was only about 8 weeks old. Such a beautiful
pup!! His energy level is way up there. He loves to play with
his toys and believe me, he has lots and lots of toys!! It's
funny though because he prefers ones made from plush material
and they have to have the noise maker in them. Yikes!!! Every
time we bring in a new toy from the store he runs up to it
and locates the 'squeaky' right off the bat.
Unlike his big brother, he loves EVERYONE!!
Once we had him in the front yard and a jogger was going by.
Well that little fart ran right up next to him, looked back
at us as if to say, "Lookie here .... I have a new friend
to run with!!!"
If we have company arriving he cries and raises
all kinds of cain until he is picked up and loved on. Mercy
sakes he loves to have attention!!!
He has his 'crazy' times but he also has his
calm times when he loves to lay on the lap of the person he
has chosen to be 'close' to at that moment.
I watch him playing with his baby sister or
his toys and try to vision what my mom must have thought when
I had energy like that .... many years ago!!
Rocky is a fun loving boy who shows his love
and devotion in everything he does. He's a dynamite watch
dog too with a husky voice that just doesn't seem to go with
his small stature. He sounds like he should weight 90 pounds.
He also loves to go to the park and visit with
the ducks. The first time we took him, he wasn't sure what
they were but in time he was able to figure out that they
might come back at you if you decide to get too close.
All-n-all Rocky is a very sweet little monster
who brings joy to our home.

MS BEASLEY
(Russian Blue)

So now we come to our newest member of the family
who happens to be the youngest of them all. She is a beautiful
huge Russian Blue my boss gave to us in hopes we could find
her a new home. It seems one of the family members is allergic
to cat fur and wasn't too fond of having to go through repeated
injections in order to keep the cat at their home.
We got her a few months ago when she was about
one and a half year old. Before we got her she had her front
paws de-claimed and 'fixed'. I'm not fond of de-claiming cats
because I know of the pain they go through but looking at
her rear claws, I'm a bit happy our furniture won't be going
through her ripping it apart.
She's grey in color, looking super silky. Her
fur is very smooth, shiny and soft. She's a large girl, no
.... she's huge!! A bit of an armful I might say.
She loves to chase Rocky around the house and
for a while she got a bit rambunctious in her biting but has
settled down. They both love to run after our little laser-lite.
All hell breaks lose when they get going.
She wasn't named Ms Beasley when we got her
but has adapted to her new name quite fast. She answers to
"Ms B", "Beez" and "BB" too.
I've never known such a chatterbox (cat) in my life!! She
says, "No" very plainly too!!
She sleeps up on the bed with the rest of us
and let me tell you, she sure takes up the room! Lucky for
her that I'm not 6 feet tall or we would be fighting over
the lower space of the bed.

So there you have it, our little "family"!
I wouldn't trade any of them for all the money in the world.
We love them as if they were our 'human' children and they
show us so much love in return. We're blessed with having
them in our household .... sharing our space and lives.
Too many people feel the need to have the 'perfect'
pet but we feel that since WE aren't 'perfect', we sure as hell don't
want anything or anyone around us 'perfect'. BTW, isn't 'perfect' a
fantasy anyhow? LOL Besides, everyone in the house that I live in
is "perfect" for ME ..... that's for damn sure ..... and that's all that
matters to ME.
